My first review AVATAR

I saw avatar with my husband and 9 year old son. My daughter , 12 saw it the day before and walked out 30 minutes in, not sure if the cute guy working at Dunkin Donuts had anything to do with it..My guess is yes. The three of us loved the movie, as an artist the movie was visually invigorating, the blacklights used in the evening forest scenes were pure joy. The make-up and costumes were also very cool and intereting enough with out being creey or scary. I enjoyed the story, although it was a bit thin. The 2 main characters kept us interested, were attractive and had good chemistry. The story is the same time told tale of humans pretty much ruining all in thier path in the name of greed and wealth. been there done that, but it;s wrapped up in such a package that is so beautiful and exciting that I really did not care if I heard it all before. i am a bit dissappointed in james cameron because, the story is the weakest part of the film, and this comes from a man who made us all weep with heartfelt sadness at imaginary characters that sunk with the Titanic. Like I said it does not take too much away from this brilliant piece of movie making. The 3 d effects were a fantastic addition to something that was so extriodinary I do believe I agree with some critics who said he will revolutionalize movie making with this film. Is it good for kids? yes. Is there some mild violence ? yes Is there one short tasteful scene eluding to sex? yes(but shows nothing. Is the message of respecting the earth and all living creatures something we can all use a dose of? yes.. Why not hear that message in a beautiful feast for the eyes fantasy film complete with dragons, and aliens and blacklight 3d?
